چکیده

Abstract Understanding how the salt marsh vegetation will evolve under future climate conditions is essential for predicting role of ecosystem services in a warmer with higher CO 2 -concentrations. In mesocosm experiment northern Wadden Sea, impact increased temperature (+ 3 °C) and (800 ppm) on was investigated, assessing biomass production pioneer zone low marsh. The zone, which dominated by Spartina anglica exposed to natural tidal inundations , demonstrated differentiated response between belowground aboveground biomass. Aboveground enhanced availability, raised temperatures. Other plant species accounted less than 18% biomass, their suppressed high availability. Increased may improve resilience toward sea level rise. Hence, expected maintain its coastal protection blue carbon storage capacity conditions. marsh, Elymus athericus usual resembled scenario level. showed no or temperature, be due flooding. positive (C 4 plant) lack counter notion that C plants are more productive demonstrate can also thrive marshes.

Iran's Future Climate Conditions and Hazard in Climate Research

Global temperatures have increased in the past 100 years by an average of 0.74°C (IPCC, 2013), with minimum temperatures increasing faster than maximum temperatures and winter temperatures increasing faster than summer temperatures (IPCC, 2013). Total annual rainfall tends to increase at the higher latitudes and near the equator, while rainfall in the sub-tropics is likely to decline and become...

Ability of salt marsh plants for TBT remediation in sediments.

INTRODUCTION The capability of Halimione portulacoides, Spartina maritima, and Sarcocornia fruticosa (halophytes very commonly found in salt marshes from Mediterranean areas) for enhancing remediation of tributyltin (TBT) from estuarine sediments was investigated, using different experimental conditions. METHODS The influence of H. portulacoides on degradation of the butyltin compounds was as...

Early Stages of Sea-Level Rise Lead To Decreased Salt Marsh Plant Diversity through Stronger Competition in Mediterranean-Climate Marshes

Climate change shuffles species ranges and creates novel interactions that may either buffer communities against climate change or exacerbate its effect. For instance, facilitation can become more prevalent in salt marshes under stressful conditions while competition is stronger in benign environments. Sea-level rise (SLR) is a consequence of climate change that affects the distribution of stre...
